How to Choose Silent Block Bushes for Truck and Trailer Suspension

How to Choose Silent Block Bushes for Truck and Trailer Suspension

Silent block bushes are rubber-to-metal bonded components used where a truck or trailer suspension assembly needs controlled movement while reducing vibration and transmitted noise. Selecting a bush by appearance alone can lead to poor fitment, unwanted movement or early failure. The correct part must match the approved assembly specification.

For drawing-led or replacement enquiries, Maurflex manufactures silent block bushes for automotive, commercial-vehicle and industrial applications from Ludhiana, Punjab, India.

Identify the suspension position first

A truck or trailer may use different bush designs in leaf-spring eyes, torque-rod assemblies, suspension arms, equalizers and other mounting positions. Record the vehicle or trailer model, axle or suspension location, original part number and drawing reference where available. Similar names do not confirm interchangeability.

Measure the complete bush construction

  • Inner-sleeve diameter and length
  • Outer diameter and housing fit
  • Overall bush length, flange dimensions and shoulder profile
  • Mounting-hole centres or pin arrangement where applicable
  • Rubber profile and metal sleeve configuration

Clear photographs and measured dimensions are useful where an approved drawing is not available. For specialised suspension components, review related torque rod bushings and leaf spring bushings separately, because their mounting and load requirements differ.

Specify loading and operating conditions

Rubber compound, hardness, bonding construction and sleeve material are selected for the approved component and its operating conditions. Provide the load direction, expected movement, temperature, exposure to oil or chemicals, intended vehicle duty and inspection requirements. Do not assume that one hardness or compound is suitable for every suspension location.

Confirm the manufacturing and inspection requirement

For OEM, distributor and export enquiries, include the required quantity, repeat-demand expectation, packaging requirement, delivery destination and any drawing, material, dimensional or testing documentation. Specify any required dimensional inspection, rubber-hardness checks, sleeve-alignment checks, bond assessment or load testing so Maurflex can confirm the available inspection and test scope for the enquiry.

Truck and trailer enquiry checklist

  • Approved part number or drawing reference, including revision
  • Suspension position and mounting orientation
  • Axle or vehicle load duty and intended operating conditions
  • Direction of load and expected angular or torsional movement
  • Bush dimensions, quantity and inspection requirements

Questions to ask before ordering

Can a visually similar silent block bush be used as a replacement?

No. Confirm the part reference, dimensions, sleeve arrangement, rubber properties and mounting application before ordering.

What should an export buyer send for a quotation?

Send the drawing or sample details, vehicle or trailer application, quantity, inspection requirements, packaging needs and delivery country. Maurflex will review the manufacturing requirement and confirm order-specific supply details.
